WE ARE ALL THE SAME

We are human beings no matter what race, gender or in my study; shape, we should all be treated the same.

In my project, I wanted to reflect on this message. I used painted shapes to represent individuality between each person. The aim was to show how everyone may have a different shape or colour but we are all in all the same. Each person has something different but we're all similar.

I wanted to focus mostly on Asian people and how they had been treated in western culture. This focus rose to me during the outbreak of Covid-19 as one of my friends had been treated unkindly due to racist comments by complete strangers saying how she was the reason for this pandemic and no one tried to interrupt. She had grown up with sly racist comments and continues to experience it regularly in her life.

I focused mostly on Asian eyes as it's a distinct feature. The anatomy of everyone's eyes are the exact same, It's our genetic makeup that changes our lid shapes, so why judge someone for it?

I attempted to alter the conversation and placed eyes on a woman's nipples to represent the era of censorship. This topic illustrates how men are socially accepted to show their nipples on social media yet women get ridiculed if they display theirs. This topic coincides with the rules and regulations on people's bodies which is similar to the other side of my project which represents racism.

These are two different issues, however, within both, people feel the need to judge through what society has told us on what is acceptable.
